　　One’S-SelF I sing—a simple, separate Person;
! w4 Q/ b; J* W+ k  U　　Yet utter the word Democratic, the word En-masse.
　　Of Physiology from top to toe I sing;
　　Not physiognomy alone, nor brain alone, is worthy for the muse—I say the
　　Form complete is worthier far;
　　The Female equally with the male I sing.
　　Of Life immense in passion, pulse, and power,

　　不过要用民主的这个词、全体这个词的声音。

　　我说不单只外貌和脑子，整个形体更值得歌吟，
　　而且，与男性平等，我也歌唱女性。
