炉火不用生得很旺

梦着小时候的日子

也许早已不存在了

透过被飞雪映得发亮的窗子5 e( V* q8 D b' R
老树的枝桠显得更加黝黑

使我久久不能入睡

母亲依旧那样整日地操劳

Dreaming of youth, A+ |" D4 ]6 O" r. o
Against the brown wooden partition

) B; h" |8 Q; D4 x5 H" R The old country house, F$ X7 N, z" z7 r N
May no longer be there

. C+ [ X3 [. b: C Late winter snows float down twilight by twilight
, K, s$ n0 P, l' ?& s To be heard in the solitude against the glass; I4 h. p- `6 z; N) q! u
And through the window illuminated by snowflakes" X& Q' ]( }, H% n
The old tree's crotches seem swarthier
8 |8 P! E( s- k2 A3 g% _% F And the sound of melting snow falling from the eaves
; ?: j" I3 x: s Keeps me long from sleep
3 f% U, V: R: _* S: U8 M And in my youth
0 O! g$ t6 }0 d3 t6 t6 u( v; X7 f I did not sleep till Mother
. U$ ?( a* o5 V" W- `- b) e Having slaved daylong% T( m" y1 P+ N1 v- [0 a
From one room to the next3 |6 ^* b. h3 \4 I* C4 i( P4 h& l" L- V
Tucked in my coverlet+ [' F1 v1 d3 j+ m
So the snowflakes gradually tuck in memory of the past
( l# P8 o) C0 g6 o4 r/ ^ And I faintly hear
' o) O3 Y1 ]; l7 e+ c. s, ` Twigs fall
2 f6 d" `8 G; X+ Z: O9 e And the kettle singing N$ U+ h- X, K7 q4 h X
On the warm fire
